Suspect Nabbed In CT Gas Station Robbery

A 30-year-old man has been accused of robbing a Connecticut gas station at gunpoint.

The incident happened at about 4:50 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, in New London County at the Petro Max gas station in Griswold, located at 136 Preston Road, according to Connecticut State Police.

Police said Michael Riegel, a resident of Preston in New London County, was arrested on Tuesday, April 5.

Riegel was accused of entering the gas station with his face covered with a mask, displaying a handgun, and demanding money from the clerk.

Riegel then took the money and fled the scene in a gold sedan with no plates, authorities reported.

State Police identified Riegel as the suspect in the robbery after an investigation, police said.

Police said Riegel is charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny. 

Riegel's bond was set at $150,000, authorities reported.
